Entrepreneur Spotlight: Infinity Productions

Syeara Dunlap is an Atlanta, Georgia native studying at the illustrious Howard University with an intended Business Marketing major. She has always been a creative individual, from her exploration of the arts as a child to her recent entrepreneurial endeavors. Syeara was inspired from the first day she picked up a camera. Photography started as a hobby for her and she never imagined that a favorite pastime would become her first step into entrepreneurship.

Infinity Productions was founded in 2018 to provide various services including photography to capture life’s beautiful moments. Whether in a studio or around town, Infinity Productions is ready to tell a story with every shot. During our interview, Syeara shared some of her favorite shoots with me. One of the most notable is a photoshoot featured on my website under the Health and Fitness section.

I taught Water Aerobics during Summer 2018 and wanted to showcase some of the great workouts completed on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings. I had no true vision or plan for my photo shoot, but Syeara was able to capture fantastic action shots of me and my class. Photographers have a skill that allows them to take an idea and transform it into a visual story. The work of Infinity Productions speaks for itself.

“Everyone with an iPhone is not a photographer.” -Syeara Dunlap

Syeara and I discussed many myths and stereotypes of photographers. One of my favorite myths was the difference between the real and fake photographers. For example, Smartphone-based photographers not the same as professional photographers. She shared insight on the functionality of professional cameras with manual mode, different camera settings, and how they all play important roles in creating a shot. This was something that I did not understand as a guilty smartphone-based photographer myself!

“Smartphone producers have designed their cameras to do all the work for users. I bet if the users are to put their camera in manual mode, they would not know the first thing to do!” -Syeara Dunlap

Along with being a new entrepreneur, Syeara still manages to put her school work first. As a Business student at Howard University, she understands the standard of excellence expected from her university. She proved that she can excel professionally as an entrepreneur, but also academically as a college student. When asked, “What was the biggest challenge you faced as a student and young entrepreneur trying to follow two passions at once?” She replied, “Trying to make meaningful connections with time constraints is the ultimate challenge and ultimate reward.” Like any college student, she had to find a balance between interests and personal life. She accredits much success to her time management skills. Without being organized and strategic with projects, she would not have been able to be as successful as she is.
